I didn’t have to think long when Pastor Lyle posed the above question because, oddly enough, I gave that same answer earlier during bible study. Ephesians 6:12 says that we wrestle NOT against flesh and blood (essentially rendering race insignificant!), but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. The Word of God tells us that our common enemy is not even a physical being but, instead, a dark ominous spirit aka satan, who seeks to steal, kill, destroy, divide and conquer! In short, the present day carnage continues to intensify because the vast majority of people lack this type of understanding. It is incumbent upon those who do to stand in the gap with prayer, evangelism and ministration.

Richard, I’m periodically asking non-whites that I encounter, “What is one thing you wished whites understood about the lives of blacks/whites/Asians/Latinos in America?” Today, a 50-ish black man answered me, “That the issues we are facing are because our hearts are evil apart from God.” He was a complete stranger to me, and I thought he hit the nail on the head.
