Many of you who are local to Atlanta would have seen on the news the report about the jewelry store robbery in our county. You would have heard of an “elderly victim” in the robbery who was attacked by the thugs. What you may not have known is that the victim was our very own Family Life Pastor, Don Shockley. I was with him in the hospital as they stitched up his head and I can tell you that it was the worst head wound I’ve ever seen. It is amazing that Pastor Don survived. To God’s glory, Don is expected to make a full recovery after receiving 23 stitches. There was no skull or brain damage as Don was greatly spared. Below is a local news report about it all which includes interviews with Don and Shirley. Let’s pray for these two as we hope to see them back at Meadow as early as tomorrow.
Blessings,
Jeff
Elderly Pastor Attacked in Jewelry Store Robbery: MyFoxATLANTA.com
I struggle when I hear of this happening to believers and how God could let this happen to a child of GOD that is on fire for the lord as Don is. I know the lord allows things in our life for so many reasons that we do not understand why. I got so angry looking at the video and instantly thought negative about the robbers. But hearing on the video how Don forgave his attacker is testimony to his faith for the lord and we can learn and grow from seeing Don’s attitude. Just another lesson as to why GOD allows things to happen in our life so we can be a living example. GOD bless you both Don and Shirley… My heart hurts for what happen to you but is rejoicing in how GOD will use you for his glory.
We have been praying for Don and Shirley since we heard of this horrible attack and praise God that Don was not hurt any worse. I should; however, pray like a true Christian warrior – Don – and include the attackers in my prayers. Jesus is preparing a great room indeed for the Shockleys!! Hallelujah and Amen!
Praying for these two precious saints and praising God that Pastor Don and Sis. Shirley are okay!
Uplifting Pastor Don for healing and Shirley for continued strength from the Lord. Jesus and the Holy Spirit are reflected in their countenance and lives.
