A Debtor To Mercy

A debtor to mercy alone
Of covenant mercy I sing
I come with Your righteousness on
My humble offering to bring
The judgments of Your holy law
With me can have nothing to do
My Savior’s obedience and blood
Hide all my transgressions
From view
The work which Your goodness began
The arm of Your strength will complete
Your promise is yes and amen
And never was forfeited yet
The future or things that are now
No power below or above
Can make You Your purpose forego
Or sever my soul from Your love
My name from the palms of Your hands
Eternity will not erase
Impressed on Your heart it remains
In marks of indelible grace
Yes I, to the end will endure
Until I bow down at Your throne
Forever and always secure
Forever and always secure
Forever and always secure
A debtor to mercy alone
“Father, empower us today not to strive for nor in our own power. Help us to resist the lie that we must present ourselves capable and worthy in order to find acceptance in Your sight. Convince us both theologically and in our senses that you are attracted to our weakness and dependence. Help us to believe that Your ways and thoughts are not like our own and that we need not have a moment of fretting when it comes to discerning Your commitment to us. Please send the resources which we need today. Please endow us with pinpoint wisdom wherein decisions are required of us. Please remove that which opposes us as we seek to accomplish Your will. Confound our opponents and topple them like Jericho’s impregnable walls. Give us compassion for the strugglers nearby us and let us rejoice to tend to their wounds. Help us, above all things, to hear Your voice and experience assurance that You are near. Do not leave us to ourselves for we have learned that our satisfaction and sustaining are not found there. Magnify Your Son in us, then to us and ultimately through us so that we can have the abiding joy that our life’s purpose is being accomplished. Abolish our fears for they deny Your faithfulness to us. Purge our anxiety because it accuses your character to us. Bring levels of hope in us that we have long forgotten and remind us what it is to mount up with wings as eagles, to run and not become weary and to walk without fainting. Show us Your favor, great God. Do not let our confidence remain in realms of theory or theology only but place Your garments of greatness on display before our expectant eyes. We praise You, Lord. We are convinced in our hearts that You are good and worthy of our hope. We are debtors to lavish grace and abundant mercy which have been with us all our days. We are sure that they are with us again today because we know, above all things, that You will be true to Your own promise to be with us today. Thank You for remaining true to us when our own power has abated. For Your glory and in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, we pray these things – Amen”
This prayer is mine today. That is enough said….your prayer covers it all.
oh that these very words would stay even closer to my heart. Should I comment here? How could I ever do so. I can only meditate.
