All of time and eternity, all that was created and has ever been, all manifestations of light and darkness, all tangible matter and each intangible thought, every prayer and all praise, each pain and all pleasure, both demon and angel, sinner and saint, all children of darkness and each child of the light, every speck of earthly dust and every gaping celestial galaxy, all earthly kings who ever lived and each anonymous peasant that time ignored, the strong and the infirm, the wise and the fool, the noble and the degraded, the intelligent and the feebleminded…yes the entirety of the known cosmos and the realm of the not-yet-known created order will all be summed up together in an unstoppable acknowledgment of the highest and most glorious truth that Jesus Christ is the Supreme and Sovereign Lord over and above all that ever was and ever will be. This is the anthem of the ages and the crescendo is a throne occupied by a Lamb who is a King.
My soul today is anchored in this truth today and it legitimizes my desire to gather with a group of simple people and lift up in song and prayer and service the name of this King whom I have never seen. I have only beheld Him with closed eyes. I have only heard Him with heart-ears. I have only touched Him with a reach of faith. Most importantly, I have been held by Him more times than can be numbered and it is not an imaginary event, but neither is it a moment that can be measured, stamped with a barcode and repackaged to be marketed to others. Worship is transcendent and it is the most significant experience which is offered to a human being. Once entered into, the rest of life goes pale. To experience Jesus Christ in the fullness of the Holy Spirit surpasses all other delights which can be tasted on earth.
And anyone can come and dine. All can taste and see. Each of us is invited to partake. So I will.
