It’s been said that it is often easier to receive forgiveness than to receive permission. With that quotable quip in mind, I post for today’s blog something my wife recently placed on her Face Book account. Amy is my favorite person in the world and one of the things that I admire so much about her is her simplicity. She is anything but wishy-washy when it comes to her Savior, her family and her bible. When she recently learned of an intentional marketing strategy aimed at pre-teen girls by an international lingerie company, Amy decided to preach. I am grateful that she did and thought it would be better than most anything I might offer you on a Monday morning. Her claws are beautifully manicured and her roar sounds like a trained alto but, without further adieu, here’s some thoughts from Mama-Bear Lyle.

The stomach bug has hit our home today so since I won’t be going to church, I guess I’ll be forced to preach my own sermon. 🙂
Apparently, Victoria’s Secret has launched a new lingerie line for pre-teens. Pre-teens, really ? This lingerie line includes the following words on their clothes and undergarments – ” Feeling Lucky?” , ” Young and Wild” and “Call me”. This is for little girls ! Parents, it is our job to protect our little girls’ innocence, their minds, and their purity. Our girls are not here for men’s pleasure – they were created in the image of God to bring HIM glory – not even their own glory, but HIS . With eating disorders, body mutilation and sex-trafficking of little girls at all time highs, this is the last thing our daughters needs to be introduced to! The company’s spokesman said this “They want to be older, and they want to be cool like the girl in college, and that’s part of the magic.” The magic ? I know who the founder of this idea was – our enemy. The very same one who taunts young women to dress immodestly, give their bodies away to one man after another, to flirt, and when they end up crying in their bedrooms at night because they are unhappy , he sits back and laughs. My own daughter is almost thirteen and I don’t giggle with her when older boys stare and even try to flirt at the mall – it’s not funny and she knows that too. She’s here for God’s glory and one day if the Lord chooses to bring her a man to marry, he alone can delight in looking at her and that will be perfectly fine. I’m teaching Alicia that she’s here to bring God glory and possibly one man in the future – not every little boy that walks by. Apparently, at the last Victoria’s Secret show, knowing that little girls would come to watch him, they had Justin Bieber perform with all the models on stage. Such pressure on our little girls! We have to protect our daughters – they have a real enemy who wants to devour and destroy them; their own flesh will not help , and obviously the world will entice them – let us pray a hedge of protection around our daughters and let’s be proactive in teaching them that their security and identity come from The Lord! Shame on this company.

My daughter and I have almost daily talks about becoming a woman of substance. Lately, SHE brings up the subject. It is an incredible gift to see that she has been listening the whole time.
I am fortunate to see her walk into school and be confident that she will choose wisely. Even more fortunate to have a Dad who reminds me to “keep her talking.”
Amy, maybe you must consider beginning a blog specifically for young girls. In my small circle I already know about a lot of girls that can benefit from your knowledge and convictions.
So very well said, as always, from dear Amy. How I do wish my granddaughter would look this way for her children.
Two innocent little greats, sometimes, sound like the teenager -and not a very nice one- when they talk and when they pose for pictures. Amy, you are a wonderful example of a truly Godly mother to your children. I do so admire you…..I
have said that before but I can think of no other phraise that explains it better. I love you and Jeff too….for helping me
keep my eyes on the Master! My Master.
That’s why she’s my friend! 🙂
