We received the plan from the oncologist this week, and thought it would be good to post it here for those who are praying for me. I feel great and have just about fully recovered from the surgery. My radiation treatments begin on March 2nd and are scheduled to last for 6 weeks (5 days each week). Three chemo sessions will also be scattered in the midst of those six weeks. On Monday 2/17, I have a full body scan to determine that the cancer has not spread anywhere else in my body. We are trusting that this will be the happy confirmation of that scan. If it is, then the process I lay out in the video below is all that will be required for my at this point. I may lose my hair. I will experience radiation burns on the inside and outside of the right side of my neck which they say will be quite painful. I will be drinking my meals for a few weeks (can anyone say, “Yay weight loss!”) And, yes, it will likely impact my ability to preach during the months of March and April. I plan to preach five of the next six services at New Bridge before treatments begin so that we can have some fresh material for television and our media streams while I am out in March and April. Please pray that my voice returns at full force! The radiation zone is very close to my vocal cords, so we need divine protection of those instruments of proclamation. I plan to write a little in the blog during my treatment time so please check back here weekly to see if there is something new for you to read.
Blessings to each of you! – Jeff
Watching Transforming Truth right now, Amy Lyle’s testimony..and just found out about your diagnostic. The Lord is Faithful and True! What a mighty God we serve and belong to. Praying for you Pastor Jeff, your family and congregation. He has you safe in His mighty hands! Grace & Peace in Jesus precious Name <3
Jeff, you are not only in our prayers.. you and Amy and your family are in our hearts. And in my heart I know that God has you! Whatever will be will be…however, it is clear, you’ve got this…one major thing I have always known in my faith and journey is that our trust and belief in our Lord Jesus Christ will get us through life and all that entails. Richie and I love you and smile as we embrace your continued journey.
Pastor Lyles, I’m just receiving the news of your medical journey but I know God has and is with you. I speak healing in Jesus’ name. God makes no mistakes. We trust Him. We praise Him. We lean on Him for strength, courage and victory in this journey. Know that God loves you and He is with you. Draw close to Him. My prayers are with you and your family.
Jeff this is Dr Stewart Simms from Athens. I am the pastor emeritus of Beech Haven Baptist Church in Athens where I served for 31 years. I am still sort of part of the staff as I visit, do funerals and sub preaching occasionally for my pastor Dr David Mills when I am not preaching elsewhere. He is very secure! Several years ago you and I exchanged e mails briefly . I told you how much I valued your ministry from afar. Love the exposition of the TRUTH! I still watch almost every week and still am thoroughly blessed. Today, Resurrection Day, I heard part of your salvation testimony! PTL!!! I also learned of your cancer diagnosis. Where is it and how are you tolerating the treatments. I do pray for you and will do so more often. Please respond and maybe we could text. I am at 706-202-8194. Let me know you got this please!
My brother “Jesus us is already back there waiting on you.” He never leaves because he is there before us in whatever we do. Prayers for your family as well as you. God be Praised in all this. Wife and I love you all.
