Sundays are when the soldiers gather. Platoons and battalions, squads and teams enter into the presence of their Commander and are reminded of both the battle and the victory. Soldiers sing before the fight. They sacrifice in the fight. They do not retreat or merely defend but they gain equipping when they gather together and strength breeds strength. At some point it becomes the time to march, sail and fly. Sundays are the days of celebration for the Christian warrior and the infusing of refreshing power that we gain is incredibly valuable. Today we will be reminded of our enemy – he hates it when he is exposed at our gatherings. We will look for opportunities to tend to our wounded – they find hope when they are in the midst of other soldiers who are faring well. We will learn of hills which need to be climbed and secured in the name of Jesus – too much terrain has been unnecessarily forfeited. Today, I hope that our heartbeats race, our spiritual adrenaline surges, our minds become focused and deliberate and our hands trained for warfare. Most of all, my prayer is that our King will be pleased at our confidence in Him, for He alone gives the victory. Prioritize the brotherhood today. Strengthen your ranks. Serve your fellowsoldiers and let us reclaim surrendered territory. We have much to attend to today, saints.
“O Lord, my Lord, the strength of my salvation, you have covered my head in the day of battle.” – Psalm 140:7 {ESV}
I know some men who will shout a thundering Amen to this one! I love your military comparison here. I remember singing Onward Christian soldiers when I was 10 years old. I was really confused then – wondering why we were calling ourselves soldiers. 36 years later, I finally get it!
Respectfully I will add that Brotherhood is necessary Monday through Saturday as well!
