“God, just how sovereign are You?”
“Fully. Completely. Comprehensively. I am in control of it all.”
“You are in control of all the good stuff?”
“Yes”
“All the bad stuff too?”
“Indeed, child.”
“That’s confusing to us. We thought the devil is in control of the bad stuff.”
“He’s often involved but I control even him as I work out My eternal purpose.”
“That’s overwhelming and a little scary.”
“Not if you remember, child.”
“Remember what, God?”
“That I am good.”
“When the bad stuff comes I have to confess to You that I have sometimes doubted Your goodness.”
“I know. You are not the first to do so.”
“Why do we doubt You so much?”
“Because you know Me so little.”
“Are you mad at us when we doubt You?”
“No. I am sad when you doubt Me.”
“Not mad, but sad? Why are You sad?”
“Because you don’t grasp the depth of My love for you. You do not see that My plan is best. You do not always keep waiting on Me to make things clear to you in My time. You get in a big hurry because you cannot see all that I’m doing. I am sad because doubts lead My children to trust in other things. I am not mad for My sake – I am sad for yours.”
“Will you give us – will you give me – another chance to patiently trust You? To wait and to see? To resolve to be still and know that You are my God?”
“There are no second chances, child. There is no need for a second chance because I have given you my grace and mercy which are constantly renewed. The more you need them, the more you will find that they are always full. I give you much better than second chances. I give you My open ended invitation to rest completely in My grace which never runs dry to My children. Can that be enough for you, child?”
“Today it is enough, God.”
“That is very good because all that you can handle is grace for today. Your doubts arise because your heart wants explanations for tomorrow and that is not how I choose to interact with you. My children do not live by precise explanations. My children live by My promises. Let’s speak again tomorrow and, if your questions are the same, you will find My answer is also, but I do not mind telling you again.”
“Thank you, God, for patiently understanding me.”
“It is my joy, child. I am pleased that you still seek to understand Me. In the end, you will, I promise. I’m in no hurry. Don’t expect to grasp it all today.”
“Then we will meet tomorrow?”
“Or sooner. Come back as often as your heart desires. You will have my undivided attention. I love you, child. Nothing will ever interrupt that. Your doubts, fears, sins, failures and wanderings do not derail Me from my amazing plan for your life. My commitment to you was in full force before you ever drew your first breath.”
“Wow. I need to really believe that.”
“Yes, child. You certainly do.”
BEAUTIFUL!!!! Thank you so much for sharing!
