Wishing each and every one of you a blessed year to come, I want to leave you with a very brief thought on this first day of 2012. Something will define the upcoming year for you. If God allows you to be here in 365 days you will look back and say, “2012, for me, was more about _______ than anything else.” I suggest to you that you should determine for yourself what you hope that blank will be filled with. Seek God’s face and tarry regularly there so that He can season each day with what He deems best. Gain perspective from last year and all years prior and humbly acknowledge that something greater is possible. Something more glorious and lasting. Something with substance. Below is a verse that both expresses my great need for the new year and also my strongest desire in these days. God is able and I am committed on Day 1 to be a better follower this year. May His grace give me – and you – the heart’s desire.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” – Prov. 3:5-6
