As I’m typing this I’m aware that Amy is likely beginning her first full day of physical therapy. They moved her yesterday and let me know that I’m not allowed to be with her until 3 pm each day when the daily sessions have ended. If you’ve never been around rehabilitational therapists then you are unaware of their tenacity. Those folks don’t play. There only goal is to force the patient beyond their limits so that they can regain all the skills and mobility they have lost through injury. Most of them have the will of a pit-bull, the intelligence of an owl and the faithfulness of a golden retriever. Amy will be with them today and I’m grateful that forward momentum has begun.
The kids are with me in a hotel in Atlanta. An amazing handful of people supplied us with a free suite that will allow me to be near Amy for the next 6 days while the children will be with some friends in Cartersville. Meadow’s folks are swarming at my house getting it ready for all the changes that occur when Amy comes back home. her next surgery is scheduled for a week from tomorrow and she could be sent home as early as next Saturday. that is an incredibly overwhelming thought that I’m not really dwelling on right now.
Please pray for the following if you will: a resistance to all infection in Amy’s right leg/foot. This is the only current hazard they see as a potential complication. thus far she is infection-free but the dangers are there. If infection got hold of her, she could lose that foot/leg. We are confident she will escape this potential. Please pray for her encouragement as the initial days of rehab are intense, frightening and overwhelming. She needs courage and strength in addition to recovery of her abilities. she also needs to master some new techniques as she will not be walking for up to 3-4 months. I’m beginning to deal with insurance concerning home care and equipment which is not an encouraging process. Please pray that God will turn the hearts of all involved parties towards the Lyles.
Words cannot express our gratitude for your offers of help. Please keep those offers fresh in your heart because we will need immense help in the future. The body of Christ is the single most beautiful group of people in the world. Your comments on the last week of blogs not only help my family but you are testifying to each other of the love of Christ. He is being glorified and His name magnified. To God be all the glory in days of ease and also days of pain. He is worthy of our heart’s song!
Jeff and Amy, we are still praying for you and will not stop. However, I saw where you are starting to work on insurance claims. If you encounter any problems, please let me know. I might be able to help. Let me know. It’s easier to get positive results, cut through the red tape if you get the right people involved sooner than later.
Jeff,
You don’t know me, but Amy and Deborah know me from Northside Baptist Church, where they went to church for many years. Deb was my Sunday School teacher for many years, as well. A great teacher and woman of God, I will add. Amy has always been a blessing to me, even as a young girl. She blessed us with her singing and was always a Godly girl. We love all of the family, Danny and Mark, also! I was so saddened to hear of this terrible accident and have been thinking of and praying for you all. I have really looked forward, each day to reading your blog, to keep up with how Amy and Deb are doing. Thank you so much for this!! In reading your blog, you have been such a blessing and encouragement to me! I am praying for you and the children, as you go through the storm, at this time! I know, the Lord will get you through it, as he already is working on it! Please, let Amy and Deborah(with a wisper in her ear, if possible) know, that I am praying and thinking of them and that many of the Northside Church and Sunday School classes are, as well!! We love you all.
My love and my prayers are with you all.
I knew Deb from Northside Baptist – she is precious to me.
You ALL continue to be in our prayers. We love you all.
Glad to hear Amy’s PT has started. I know it will be hard but very much worth it in the long haul. She’s a fighter and has the warriors of God on her side – loving her from a distance and lifting her up in prayer. Will add the infection prayer and the ribs to my list. Poor thing – broken ribs are so painful and no one knew. I and all the Meadow family love you and your family. Most of us are just waiting for someone to tell us what to do to help you out. Prayer is the most important thing right now and I’m sure all are faithful to that end. I’ve sent your names out to all my Christian friends so people who don’t know you are lifting you up as well. So happy someone took on the responsibility of “remodeling” your home. That will be so helpful when ya’ll get home. Love and prayers.
Sherry
Our prayers are with the Lyle and Samples families. Keep looking up for His coming and He will take care of the rest.
Hi pastor,
I met your beautiful wife just a few weeks ago when she reached out to me during a service. I have thought about her love and kindness often since, and was so saddened to hear this news. But, in our short conversation, I quickly saw that Amy is a fighter and a true woman of God. She prayed for me and loved me without hesitation, and believe me, I will be doing the same for her and all of you. Her encouragement meant so much to me, and I pray and hope that she feels that same encouragement that she so quickly offers others.
God is in control. It is His will that Amy heals and comes back to us. I am going pray that infection will stay far away. A few years ago I nearly lost my leg to an infection twice. Meadow prayed, Meadow’s children prayed. My docter said it was a miracle; he thought he would be amputating my leg. God heals!
Dear Pastor Jeff, Amy, Alicia and Landon,
Praise the name of our Lord God almighty.Today’s news is encouraging.Do not fear any possible infection. The kind healing hands of Jesus will never allow it .Thank God that Landon has seen his mom.I still remember in my age what my mom meant to me.
We are praying everyday. Our Lord will convert this situation into a great blessing in the long run.You will be ministering to those who fall under hardships from a real personal experience.God bless you,
Sam & Zack.
