After being off of work and out of the office for several days, I woke up with the itch to post something on the TT blog today. I’m going to keep it short and sweet today as we consider this simple verse from Isaiah’s writings. The pen is Isaiah’s, but the words are from the Father.
“You are My witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and My servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He.” – Isaiah 43:10
We are in a constant state of living out the 3 things God mentions here through Isaiah: Knowing, Believing & Understanding. There are some things we know that we really don’t believe. This is to accept something in the mind without yielding to it with the heart. There are some things we believe but do not fully understand. We trust God and His ways while our understanding of things is still imperfect. This is the core of what it means to live by faith. You are blessed when you live this way. Then there are those majestic moments when we know, believe and also understand. This only comes to those who endure and wait upon the Lord. When our knowledge and faith mature into understanding, we are receiving the crown jewel of following Jesus. We experience closeness with Him.
So don’t live simply knowing what is true – yield to it. As you continue to live your days believing God, wait for understanding and persevere until it comes. By the way, it is not “understanding things” that is promised here – that would be a lesser promise than what God is saying. God is saying that we will understand the treasure of what it means that He is God and He is our God. When that understanding comes, rejoice that the God of eternity has come to you so that you might receive the greatest treasure any human could ever have: intimacy with the Almighty.
