“And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do…” 1st Chronicles 12:32
God has only made one historical covenant with a nation of people and, proud Americans, it was not us! Christians should not look for the offer of any national salvation, nor should we make the mistake of believing “God is on our side” when it comes to global conflict. Frankly, I could make a biblical case for why God might save America and why God could destroy America. No, the upcoming presidential election will not provide salvation of any sort for the Republic. Having said that, however, I certainly believe that having wise, Spirit-filled, discerning believers with a biblically framed worldview would be beneficial to us as a nation. To have such people in office would invite a far different scenario than what is currently taking place in politics on both sides of the aisle. The verse written above from 1st Chronicles reveals that Israel’s tribe of Issachar had godly men at the helm who discerned their times, and who knew the direction that their nation should go moving forward. What would your homeland look like if people with holy wisdom were governing? Here’s your opportunity to sound off, and I hope you don’t hold back. How do you answer the following:
If you were given unilateral decision making capacity for your country, what would be the first and foremost piece of legislation that you would enact? Religious? Economic? Social? Military? Humanitarian? Let me hear from you first and I might just tell you my own somewhere in the comment stream.
