You need help today. Actually, you need far more help than you could ever realize. You awoke in a world that is guided by a system that opposes your faith in Christ. Your flesh has never cooperated with Gospel mandates and today will be no different. To top it all off, you have a strategic and very powerful enemy whose entire host is devoted to kill, steal and destroy. Yes, you need divine aid today and I want to encourage you to petition God to be your mighty defense before too many hours pass on this Monday morning. Prayer, weak and struggling as it might be, should be our fist point of duty as we begin another twenty-four hours of living for the King. One man encourages us today about this issue of calling upon God for all that we need:
“God looks not at the elegance of your prayers, to see how neat they are; nor yet at the geometry of your prayers, to see how long they are; nor yet at the arithmetic of your prayers, to see how many they are; nor yet at the music of your prayers, nor yet at the sweetness of your voice, nor yet at the logic of your prayers; but at the sincerity of your prayers, how hearty they are. There is no prayer acknowledged, approved, accepted, recorded, or rewarded by God, but that wherein the heart is sincerely and wholly.” – Thomas Brooks
Friend, do not struggle with the offering of your requests to God above, God near and God within. He has told us to come boldly, confidently and obediently before His sovereign throne so that we may find gracious provision in our time of need. Waiting until you are strong is not required – in fact, it will serve only as an impediment. The most opportune time to approach God is when you sense undeniable weakness, for it is then that your capacity to receive is enlarged and your desperation of dependency makes you fit for sincere petition.
Call on Him, if for no other reason, because He delights to hear your voice. He is honored in your constant pleas. He is happy that you are looking solely to Him and will move in time to bring you your answer…or an answer far better than what you have asked for.
Being a simple person, I have to keep my prayer life simple too. Please prayers in the morning to help set the mood and guide me through the day. And Thanks prayers in the evening for all the blessings, help and goodness of the day. Of course the best prayer times are when I am most personal and child-like with my Father….not to be irreverent, but sometimes even joke with Him.
