I am heading to Greenville with Amy for a meeting today and could use some prayer for clarity about something we have been laying before the Lord in prayer. It has nothing to do with ministry opportunities or anything like that – we are simply going there as two Christians seeking guidance in areas where we sense God working to deepen our trust in Him. I mentioned in yesterday’s post that I have an irregular schedule this week so I’m posting some great nuggets of gold from some of God’s choice servants in lieu of my own normal material. Today, Martyn Lloyd Jones helps us with a thought revolving around Psalm 42:5 which asks,
“Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation.”
“Have you realized that most of your unhappiness in life is due to the fact that you are listening to yourself instead of talking to yourself? Take those thoughts that come to you the moment you wake up in the morning. You have not originated them but they are already talking to you, they bring back the problems of yesterday. Who is talking to you? Your self is talking to you. Now this man’s treatment [in Psalm 42] was this: instead of allowing this self to talk to him, he starts talking to himself. “Why art thou cast down, O my soul?” he asks. His soul had been depressing him, crushing him. So he stands up and says, ‘Self, listen for moment, and I will speak to you.'” – Martyn Lloyd Jones
We are blessed each Sunday and Tuesday when we hear God’s sermons through you and all through the week reading your blogs. I am glad to left you up in prayer to ask the Lord to meet your need for which you seek at this time. God bless you both!
We lift you both up in prayer for your safety in your travels there and back home. We then lift you both up in prayer for GOD to help in the matters where you are seeking clarity.
