It is Easter Sunday and I am thrilled to be saved. My heart rejoices on this Sunday every year because I get to look heaven’s guarantee in the eye and see it smiling back at me. This is day is uniquely ours, brethren, and I practice no diplomacy when I tell the unbelieving world to enter in, but should you refuse, we will not diminish to great gift of Easter which only belongs to the Christian. Life beyond death is promised. Life after the grave is granted through faith in Christ. Satan lost. Death is defeated. Sin’s stinger is ripped out and left in the cold shadows of an empty tomb in Israel. The Son Of God, Jesus Christ the Lord, moved and committed in love, went to the executioner’s cross, bore the fury of the Father against sin, drank the fullness of that cup and…emerged three days afterward and put the sin-shattering victory on display! This is my King! This is my Savior! Jesus Christ is my Lord and He knows my name. This is what He has done for all who have bowed their hearts to Him. He is risen and that glorious resurrection means something today:
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” – 1 Peter 1:3 {ESV}
The resurrection of Jesus Christ preaches to me a doctrine of eventual and ultimate victory
The resurrection of Jesus Christ smiles at me in promise when life frowns at me and threatens
The resurrection of Jesus Christ speaks loudest to me when there is little to no reason for having confidence about an outcome
The resurrection of Jesus Christ reminds me that the greatest events sometimes come only after the most devastating occurrences
The resurrection of Jesus Christ takes all of my fear away concerning physical death
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the very thing which took Christ’s followers from fear, confusion and sadness to boldness, clarity and ecstatic joy
The resurrection of Jesus Christ speaks to Satan and reminds him that his greatest weapon, death, has been forever outmatched
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is not merely a doctrine to be affirmed but a power to be received
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is imparted to and active in every single follower of His
The resurrection of Jesus Christ has had the final say for 2,000 years and will be the enduring echo for all of eternity
“Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with Him…” – Revelation 20:6 {ESV}
It is absolute perfect irrevocable security to me…here on earth and thereafter.
